It May Feel Terrifying, But It’s the Right Thing to Do

Ask for What You Want

Standing in the midst of the unknown, we don’t even know what we need. Days pass by and in some weird way we don’t even recognize we’re settling for a norm we never desired. If you are bracing yourself for new days and constantly putting yourself out there, I applaud you. It is not easy to break free from what the world constitutes as generic. So, the question still stands… What do you want?

Wait for What You’re Worth

We find so many alternatives to try and seek out what is for us, opposed to just remaining persistent in the flow and patiently waiting for the blessing to present itself. Be like Hannah, in 1 Samuel she prayed to the Lord in her distress. “Making a vow, she pleaded. “Lord of Armies, if you will take notice of your servant’s affliction, remember and not forget me, and give your servant a son, I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and his hair will never be cut.”

First, she makes a bold request, then she shares her offering in the event God grants her desire. Is there something you are expecting God for, but not willing to give anything up to receive the blessing? He sees your suffering whilst still acknowledging there’s too much around that you’re refusing to let go.

Many of us are believing God for marriage, financial breakthrough, children and healing and many times in the waiting we become frustrated because in the natural we see nothing changing. What makes it worse is we may find ourselves surrounded by people like Peninnah who tear us down, reminding us that we’ll fall victim to our circumstances. Please trust, this is not true! God will send you people who encourage you to trust in his timing and prepare in the waiting.

The Lord Remembered Her

And He’ll remember you too! Sometimes you just need to cry out to God. Trust in his unwavering faithfulness and stand still in the waiting. He doesn’t find excitement in your pain, He at the right time finds a way to present you your miraculous gift. God does remember you, and He will affirm you. After your prayer and pleading He may even instruct you to go in peace! Believe that what you’ve asked, shall be done in the name of Jesus.

Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. As you grow closer to Him, you will see your desires begin to align with His will for your life.

I want you to know that if God is withholding something from you it does not negate His love or power but actualizes His deep understanding of your needs. Could it be that what you believe is a true desire, is something influenced by your flesh? What would happen if you let your spirit man lead and ask of things designed to bring glory to God. Hannah wanted a son, but she also promised that if she was able to conceive, she would give the child to God. And indeed, she did. Samuel served God, Hannah fulfilled her vow by dedicating him to be Gods servant at the temple. She declared that Samuel would belong to the Lord all of his life.

What would you sacrifice for God’s blessing? How would you steward your season of waiting? Below is a little list of how to recognize our Good Good Father in the little things. Remain hopeful, lean into His presence and allow Him to comfort you!
